First of all, congratulations. You are one step closer to victory because you are in the right place to find words ending with any letter of the alphabet.
It is very difficult to derive words in popular word-finding games. In particular, it is more difficult to match the letters in your hand to an end of a word and derive a meaningful word from it. There is a field called “Ends” in the Detailed Search section of our anagram solver. This field will solve all our problems and lead us to success.
We can look at the required word lists before reading our tips for words that end with the letter we want.

Add The Plural Suffix at The End of the Word
We need plural nouns because they are added to the end of words, right? Plural nouns make games like Scrabble, Words With Friends, and Word Chums much more interesting.
So what are the plural suffixes that are added to the end of words, and how are plural words used? Let’s take a quick look at plural suffixes before moving on to the six spelling rules required to make nouns plural. We’ll give examples of each rule.
Before moving on to the examples, your goal should be to do well in word-finding games like Scrabble and expand your vocabulary.
When to Add S.
For most nouns, it’s enough to add the letter -s to the end of that name. Don’t you find it easy, too?
dog - dogs
apple - apples
car - cars
Words that end with TH or PH
If a word ends in -th or -ph, it is sufficient to add -s to the end of that name as above.
photograph - photographs
mouth - mouths
Words ending in O
The general rule for nouns ending in the letter O is to add an -s to the end of that word.
photo - photos
piano - pianos
taco - tacos
Exception: add -es instead
The exception to this rule is adding -es to the end of words that end with the letter -o. There are no strict grammatical rules here. So when you come across these words, pay attention to them and try to remember them.
tomato - tomatoes
potato - potatoes
cargo - cargoes
hero - heroes
Words ending with F or FE
The general rule for words ending in -f or -fe is to add an -s to the end of that word.
giraffe - giraffes
roof - roofs
Exception: use -ves instead.
The exception to this rule is to add -ves by subtracting -f or -fe, rather than adding -s for words that end in -f or -fe.
knife - knives
leaf - leaves
Words ending in ON.
For most words that end in -on, add -s to the end of the word.
lemon - lemons
salon - salons
canyon - canyons
Exception: use -a instead
Certain nouns that end in -on omit -on and add -a to the end of the word instead.
You probably won’t encounter this exception that often, but it’s still important to know - especially if you’re using English for academic or research papers, you may need to use these words:
phenomenon - phenomena
criterion - criteria
When ES are Added
Some plural words always end in -es.
Names ending with -s, -x, -z, -sh or -ch
For names ending in -s, -x, -z, -sh, or -ch, add -es to the end of the name.
bus - buses
watch - watches
buzz - buzzes
wish - wishes
box - boxes
Words ending with IS.
Here, -es is required to make it plural, and this suffix is added to the singular form of the noun.
For words ending in IS, the suffix -is is omitted, and -es is added instead.
axis - axes
oasis - oases
crisis - crises
When IES are Added
There is only one common type of word to which -ies is added to make it plural. However, there is one important exception to this rule, as you will see below.
Names ending with Y
As a general rule for nouns ending in the letter Y, the letter -y is omitted, and -ies is added instead.
fairy - fairies
candy - candies
dummy - dummies
Exception: just add -s
Good news. There’s actually an easy way to remember when to use this exception. Look for a vowel preceded by -y in the noun in the singular.
When a vowel precedes the letter -y, it’s easy. Just add -s to the name.
way - ways
monkey - monkeys
toy - toys
guy - guys
When to Add -I.
Here’s another simple rule you only need to know for one type of word.
Names ending in -us
Certain nouns that end in -us omit -us and add -i to the end of the word instead.
fungus - fungi
stimulus - stimuli
cactus - cacti
When not to Change Words
As we mentioned earlier, there are some types of words that do not have different spellings in the singular and plural.
Words with the Same Singular and Plural Forms
Here’s a simple rule! There are some words whose singular and plural forms are exactly the same.
Below are commonly used examples of them. You’ll notice that many of these words have to do with biology or animals.
pike
trout
fish
salmon
Nouns without singular
And there are nouns that do not have a singular. That is, nouns that always have a plural meaning. Therefore, you do not need to learn the singular form of these nouns because they do not exist.
In general, most of these names have a second. But it is important not to assume that what I have said will always be true.
It is possible to see examples of this under clothing terms:
Goggles
Peans
Clothes
Scissors
Nouns without plural forms
These nouns are also called mass nouns. These nouns do not have specific plural forms. They typically consist of nouns or abstract concepts that are often used in groups.
Jewelry
Clarity
Love
Mud
Water
